Northern Vietnam Border Tour Ride Overview

Many visitors experience only the famous Ha Giang Loop, but Northern Vietnam has far more to offer than a single circuit. This tour combines the best riding regions of Northeast Vietnam into one unforgettable journey. Riders experience the jungle-covered mountains around Ba Be Lake, the towering limestone karsts of Dong Van, the dramatic canyons of Ma Pi Leng Pass, and the terraced mountain landscapes of Hoang Su Phi and Sapa. Our route follows remote roads used by local hill-tribe communities including Hmong, Dao, Tay, and Nung villages. Depending on weather and rider ability, we incorporate sections of dirt roads and local tracks that take you beyond the standard tourist routes and into some of the most remote regions of Northern Vietnam.

Riding Conditions and Difficulty

The Northern Vietnam Border Tour is designed for riders who enjoy mountain roads, changing terrain, and real adventure.

The tour is suitable for intermediate and experienced riders. Our guides adjust routes according to weather conditions and rider confidence levels, ensuring every rider enjoys the best possible experience.

With experienced guides, support vehicles. We have well maintained  Honda CRF 250L , Honda CRF 300L,  Honda CB500X , Yamaha PG-1 and Honda XR150 for our rides, we have English Speaking guide and support mechanic following the group as sweeper.

Northern Border Motorbike Tour Itinerary: 6 Days 6 Nights

Day 1: Hanoi to That Khe

Depart from Hanoi in the morning, riding through picturesque countryside and small villages. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant along the way. Arrive in That Khe by late afternoon, have dinner at a local eatery, and stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 2: That Khe to Quang Uyen to Cao Bang

Leave That Khe after breakfast, traveling through scenic mountain roads to Quang Uyen. Stop for lunch in Quang Uyen before continuing to Cao Bang. Arrive in Cao Bang in the evening, have dinner, and stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 3: Cao Bang to Ban Gioc Waterfall to Ba Be Lake

Ride from Cao Bang to Ban Gioc Waterfall after breakfast, enjoying stunning views along the way. Spend time exploring the waterfall and have a picnic lunch. In the afternoon, continue riding to Ba Be Lake. Arrive in the evening, have dinner, and stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 4: Ba Be Lake to Dong Van

Depart from Ba Be Lake early in the morning, riding through breathtaking landscapes and small villages. Stop for lunch at a local eatery en route. Arrive in Dong Van by late afternoon, explore the town, have dinner, and stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 5: Dong Van to Ha Giang to Hoang Su Phi

Leave Dong Van after breakfast, traveling through stunning mountain scenery to Ha Giang. Stop for lunch in Ha Giang before continuing to Hoang Su Phi. Arrive in Hoang Su Phi in the evening, have dinner, and stay overnight at a guesthouse.

Day 6: Hoang Su Phi to Luc Yen to Sapa

Depart from Hoang Su Phi in the morning, riding through picturesque countryside to Luc Yen. Stop for lunch in Luc Yen before continuing to Sapa. Arrive in Sapa in the evening, have dinner, and stay overnight at a hotel.

Day 7: Sapa Exploration and Overnight Train to Hanoi

Spend the morning exploring Sapa, visiting local markets, ethnic minority villages, and scenic spots like Cat Cat Village. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, ride to Lao Cai, board the overnight soft sleeper train to Hanoi. Overnight on the train.

Day 8: Arrival in Hanoi

Arrive in Hanoi early in the morning, concluding the tour.
