About We Ride Vietnam

Vietnam’s Real Motorbike Adventure — Led by the People Who Know It Best

We Ride Vietnam runs guided motorbike and Jeep tours through the mountains, back roads, and remote villages of North Vietnam and Laos. Every tour is led by our founder Phung Van Hai and a team of Vietnamese-born guides who’ve spent their lives on these roads.

Born on the Back Roads of Vietnam

We Ride Vietnam was founded on a simple belief: the best way to experience this country is from the saddle of a motorcycle, on roads that no tour bus will ever find. Since 2015, we’ve been taking riders deep into the mountains of Ha Giang, across the valleys of Mai Chau, and through the limestone karst landscapes of Cao Bang.

We are licensed by Vietnam’s National Administration of Tourism (VNAT License: 01-774/2015/TCDL – GP LHQT) and operate with full insurance and safety standards. Every guide is Vietnamese-born, fluent in English, and trained in first aid and motorcycle mechanics — so the person riding beside you is also your translator, mechanic, and cultural guide rolled into one.

We never stop improving. Every season we scout new trails, push deeper into remote areas, and update our fleet of bikes to keep pace with Vietnam’s ever-changing landscapes.

Everything Included. Nothing Compromised.

Expert Local Guides

All guides are Vietnamese, born and raised here. We speak fluent English and carry decades of knowledge about local customs, history, and the best hidden roads across Vietnam. We act as your guide, translator, and fixer — all in one. Aso we travel with a mechanic / sweeper to keep everyone on the road and  have a support vehicle if needed.

All-Inclusive on the Road

Once the tour begins, we cover all costs: accommodation, meals, fuel, and entrance fees. The only thing you pay for on the road is alcohol. Relax, ride, and let us handle the logistics.

Modern, Maintained Bikes

We run a carefully maintained fleet — from the Honda XR150 for beginners to the Honda CRF300L for seasoned riders. Every bike is checked each morning before departure by our dedicated mechanic.

Safety First

We provide full riding gear: quality helmets, jackets, saddlebags, ponchos, and waterproof bags. All guides are first-aid trained. We require all riders to have valid travel and medical insurance before joining any tour.

Tailor-Made Itineraries

Our website shows just a sample of what’s possible. Every tour can be fully customised — shorter, longer, harder, or softer. If you’ve ridden Vietnam before and want something new, talk to us about a custom route.

Private & Group Options

Want your own private experience? Our private tours run just for you, your family, or your friends — completely flexible. Travelling solo? Join a group and meet fellow riders from around the world.

Meet the Founder

Phung Van Hai

Founder & Head Guide — We Ride Vietnam

Phung Van Hai was born in 1984 and grew up with a love for motorcycles and the open road. He studied Tourism at Hanoi Open University (2002–2007), graduating with a deep understanding of Vietnam’s culture, history, and landscapes — and an even deeper urge to explore them on two wheels.

After graduating in 2007, Hai spent years working for motorcycle tour companies across Vietnam, building an intimate knowledge of hundreds of tracks, trails, and back roads from the northern highlands to the southern delta. His reputation grew quickly: riders and peers came to know him as one of the most knowledgeable and trustworthy motorcycle guides in the country.

In 2015, Hai founded We Ride Vietnam with a clear mission — to offer something that most tour companies didn’t: real access to remote Vietnam, led by people who truly belong there. Today, he personally leads many of the tours and ensures every team member holds the same standard he built his reputation on.

“Riding throughout Vietnam, I find my country both beautiful and charming. The most simple, but most effective way to discover this beauty is by motorcycle — and I love introducing it to people from around the world.”

Our Promises

What You Can Always Count On

We Find New Roads Every Season

We never stand still. Every year we scout new trails, explore new regions, and update itineraries so that even returning riders experience something genuinely different.

Your Guide is Also Your Mechanic

Every guide doubles as a trained motorcycle mechanic. If anything goes wrong on the road, we fix it there and then — no waiting for a recovery van, no extra charges.

No Tourist Traps

We take you to places where you won’t see another tourist. Remote villages, hidden waterfalls, local guesthouses — the real Vietnam, not the postcard version.

Safety is Non-Negotiable

All guides are first-aid certified. All riders must have travel and medical insurance. All bikes are checked every morning. We take safety as seriously as the adventure itself.
